• Pigeon Island National Park: A 44-acre island reserve where you'll find the ruins of old forts and barracks dating back to the 18th century.
• Diving at Smuggler's cove: This dive site has a depth of only 35 feet so perfect for diving beginners or casual snorkelling. Expect to see lots of tropical fish, sometimes the occasional sting ray, lobsters, puffer fish, and scorpion fish.
• St Lucia Golf resort: Is a semi-private, 18-hole, championship golf course. With ocean view fairways and greens lined with orchids and bromeliads, the course is expertly designed to provide a well-rounded game of golf for players of all skill levels.
• Friday Night Street Party: This weekly tradition involves both locals and tourists alike and is not to be missed. Part of the town of Gros Islet is cordoned off the stalls of street vendors, selling steamed fish, barbecue chicken and Piton beer. Dance the night with your lover to calypso, zouk, reggae and R&B.
This volcanic island is only 27 miles long and 14 miles wide so it's quite easy to get from one place to the other. And you will want to get round and see all the incredible views and sites of this magical island. These must-see attractions can be found on the South West side of the island:
• La Soufriere: the world's only drive-in volcano. Drive to the top, pay $1.25 for admission and a guided tour of the dormant volcano. Makes you realise how unpredictable nature is.
• Toraille Waterfall and Gardens: situated on the outskirts of the town of la Soufriere. (pictured)
• The Pitons: twin coastal peaks, 2.000 feet up from the sea. These impressive volcanic plugs are situated between La Soufriere and Choiseul. St Lucia's local beer is actually named after these peaks.
